Caroline Ingraham (UK)

Founder of Applied Zoopharmacognosy & the Ingraham Method of Individualised Medicine (IMIM)

Caroline Ingraham is the founder of Applied Zoopharmacognosy and the Ingraham Method of Individualised Medicine (IMIM), taught through the Ingraham Academy. Her work represents more than four decades of pioneering research and practice in animal self-medication, innate medicine, and animal-led healthcare.

An accomplished author, lecturer, and educator, Caroline has dedicated her career to advancing our understanding of how animals instinctively select plants, minerals, algae, and other natural substances to support their physical and emotional wellbeing. Her expertise extends across a remarkable range of species, including domestic companion animals, horses, orphaned elephants, bears, tigers, chimpanzees, and other wildlife.

Caroline’s latest book, ‘Innate Self-Medication,’ explores the science, observations, and practical applications of self-directed healing in both animals and people. Her work bridges ethology, pharmacology, animal welfare, and the emerging field of individualised medicine through innate self-medication.

A highly respected international speaker, Caroline has lectured extensively throughout Europe, North America, Asia, and Australasia, presenting at scientific congresses, veterinary conferences, zoological institutions, and animal welfare organisations. Her presentations have challenged conventional approaches to animal healthcare by demonstrating the importance of choice, and species-specific medicine.

Her groundbreaking work has been featured by major media outlets including BBC Radio 4, National Geographic Television, and the Hay Festival of Literature and Arts, bringing wider recognition to the role of innate wisdom in health and healing.
